Annual General Meeting 2010

Hi guys,
It is almost the end of the semester. Now its time for another Annual general meeting. Old committee will be disband and new committee will be elected. We also will give a brief report on current financial report. Just a note, in order to change the committee, we need at least 2/3 of the members to vote. Examination Tension
You are not the only one who is facing the examinations. Generations have appeared in the past for examinations and generations will be appearing in the future too. The fact is one cannot do away with it nor can the students run away from the examinations. Many students are able to learn and integrate information well, yet when it comes to being tested in an exam, they suffer from ‘exam stress’ and do not perform to the best of their potential.
What are examinations and why are they held?
Examinations are a test to the work you have learnt for the academic year. This is one of the ways to know if you are ready for the next class or no. Just like you cannot jump before walking same way you have to study in hierarchy to reach the next class and have to be ready and prepared for it too. But over the years the word examinations have triggered an insurmountable block in the minds of the students who are appearing for it. It seems to be an uphill task for most parents, teachers and professionals to handle this fear.

Soccer Pick-up Games Highlights! Woooowww!

Today marks the first outdoor soccer games of MASAToronto after a few months long winter! Organized by Elmo Da Bomb, we have put effort to invite people to join our weekly soccer event and about 20 people came by!
Game starts at 3.00pm-3.30pm (although some of us came late due to tutorials and classes). Team Masatchism consisted of Elmo, Ponnu, Mathen, Fakhri, and bla bla bla. Team Masatchusetts consisted of some brave, young, superb players which are the likes of Qayyumizm, Chun Teng, Gabby, Acap Mazlan, and bla bla bla.
The game was so intense as several outsiders was so scared to join in (although they managed to “curi main” later on. the case is still being investigated). On the 10th minutes, Busuk managed to gain a score with a wild, unpredictable, no-look pass by atif crosby. Game became more intense when team Masatchism substituted in their playmaker, Malvinder. CNY Reunion Dinner 2010!

MASAT proudly presents our annual CNY Reunion Dinner 2010.Most of the details are still in preliminary stage of deciding the best option for all attendees to enjoy this wonderful event. More the merrier, right?
The event’s details will be finalized a week before Feb 13. The time and date for this should not be changing (hopefully). So do please look forward to it. But before that, I will need to know the approximate number of attendees to reserve the location, and decide on the menu etc.
EVERYONE who wishes to attend this event will have to contact me directly to reserve a place, BEFORE Feb 1. The best method of reservation is, to leave a message at my FB inbox. Email to my Hotmail or MSN or Phone are valid options as well, only if you know them. Clicking on “Attending” in FB is NOT a valid registration method.
You may register a list of friends along. Bring your friends (and families). This event is NOT only for MASAT members. However, members will receive subsidized fee by MASAT to attend this event.
My apologies for such tardiness of event details. Lets treat this as a surprise that you will not know where you will be having this dinner before registering for it. As for the cost, it should not exceed $30 per person for non-members (hopefully). As I have mentioned, these details will be finalized a week before Feb 13.

Subsidiary for CMA Soccer League!

Hey folks!
After plenty of discussions between MASAT executives with the respective members, we would like to announce that we would be giving out some subsidiary for the tournament under MASAT’s team! yippee!!
The subsidiary will cover half of the fees of a team. This means that instead of $100 per team, we will be subsidizing $50. i.e. a person of a team will only need to pay $5 for the tournament! (note that a team consist of 10 person. well of course the rules says 9 to 11 person per team, but we wanna make things easier guys! Moreover, people can have more playtime!)
Be aware! we will only be subsidizing a maximum of TWO teams. Therefore, this is a first come first serve basis!

In referring to the banner above, i’m hereby calling all MASAT members who is interested to form up at least one team of football, er i mean soccer, to put up some showdown in this tournament! Well, we have many bunch of craze-headed soccer players! so if you are free on saturday of 9th january (its the first week of school, you’ll get like, what? 1% of homework?), do join!

T-Shirt Designing Contest!

Hey folks! Our association has been established more than a year now, but we haven’t had our own t-shirt. So, the committees have decided to let our talented MASAT members to create the t-shirt designs for our association.
The rules are simple.
- The design must be submitted before January 31, 2010 to masat.uoft@gmail.com.
- It can consists a MAXIMUM of three colors of your choice
- It must have MASAT logo in it, but of course, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the current logo. We thought about changing the current logo too because of its, er simpleness? (but hey, simple IS great)
- You can submit as many designs as you want.
- The winning design will be decided by the committee. Just a reminder, we will have all the rights to change or alter the submitted design to fit the needs and the demands of the communities in our association. And, ummm no bribery please.
Now, you all must want to know what’s the winning prize, right?
- $30 hamper and 1 free winning t-shirt design
- $20 hamper
- $10 hamper
So, have fun on designing. Make us proud to be a member of MASAT and your name will never ever be forgotten!
